Before you choose

How to choose a stair lift

Straight or curved

A straight lift fits one uninterrupted flight. Any turn, landing or fan step needs a curved rail, made to measure.

Weight capacity

Most lifts carry 275 to 400 lb. The Harmar SL600HD carries 600 lb.

Stair width

Slim models fold to about 10.5 inches from the wall, leaving the stairs clear for family.

Battery power

Every lift here runs on batteries charged from a household outlet, so it keeps working in a power outage.

Swivel seat

A swivel seat turns you toward the landing at the top so you step off onto the floor, not the stairs.

Outdoor use

Outdoor models add covers and sealed parts for heat, sun and rain.
